Mitigating Indoor Environmental Challenges to Support Occupant Wellbeing: Exploring the Relationship Between IEQ and Performance-Based Building Design
Description

Dr. Kishor Khankari, ASHRAE Fellow and Distinguished Lecturer, and Robert Bean, ASHRAE Fellow and Distinguished Lecturer, are widely recognized thought leaders in indoor air quality, thermal comfort, and performance-based building design. Listen as they reveal why design practitioners need to develop a deeper understanding of the implied meanings of indoor environmental quality (IEQ) and HVAC, and why architecture, enclosures, and interior systems are seen as first-point solutions. Topics will include potential operational conflicts between ASHRAE Standards 62.1, 62.2, 241, and Standard 55 as well as the introduction of a modernized hybrid HVAC/DHW system to facilitate compliance with evolving IEQ standards and help mitigate the indoor environmental challenges brought about by first-point solutions.
