Starting—and Growing—an Innocence Effort*
Description

Thinking about starting an innocence effort but not sure where to begin? Are you part of a relatively new organization and want to learn how to scale up? This session is designed to assist attendees in understanding how to start or grow an innocence organization. The panel will include Meredith Kennedy, the director of the Innocence Network Support Unit (NSU), Prama Verma, the NSU's manager of development and capacity building, and Lara Zarowsky, executive director of the Washington Innocence Project. Information about the initial creation of an innocence organization, the key questions to consider before selecting a structure, and the administrative and financial necessities for commencing or sustaining a successful effort will be provided. The panel will also outline the membership criteria and application process for organizations that wish to join the Innocence Network.
