Name
Building and Leveraging Public Facing Databases for Case Review
Description

This session focuses on the development and refinement of public-facing misconduct databases and the creation of safe federated spaces for sharing misconduct data. These initiatives are essential in promoting transparency and accountability within the justice system, especially in the context of wrongful convictions. We will discuss collaborative efforts across different sectors, including legal advocacy, data science, and journalism. Our exploration includes a look at the work in California, supported by the Community Law Enforcement Accountability Network (CLEAN), the statewide database initiative by the Innocence Project New Orleans (IPNO) in Louisiana, and Techavist's work with public defender's offices. The session also covers the increasing utilization of AI tools for data analysis and dissemination.
