This session is aimed primarily at new litigators or those unfamiliar with litigating forensic science issues in post-conviction cases. It will cover how to identify relevant issues in cases involving forensic science, how to investigate and build up those issues with help from experts and resources within the Network, and finally how to frame the issues as viable legal claims in post-conviction litigation. The session will be a brief introduction to forensic science litigation, and is intended to prepare attendees to then proceed to more advanced sessions at this and future conferences, while also building a foundation to tackle forensic science issues in their casework.
