This panel discussion will be centered around how exonerees have used their creative skills as a coping method, and creative outlet to process trauma and move forward with life. Exploring the intersections around exoneration, incarceration and creativity. Art Therapy has been proven to be beneficial for prolonged or recurrent trauma, it can calm and help people open up about their traumatic experiences. Trauma can be a non-verbal experience, so it makes sense that a nonverbal approach, such as art therapy, is helpful in verbalizing and healing from trauma.
