Johnny Hincapie was wrongfully convicted of felony murder in 1990, just after turning 18 years old. He was sentenced to 25 years to life after being coerced and physically beaten into giving a false confession. Johnny has a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science, a master’s degree in theology, nearly 100 educational certificates, and has been involved in theater for 15 years. Johnny was freed after 25 years in 2015 and exonerated in 2017, and since then, he has been an advocate for the wrongfully convicted. He has appeared on numerous television and radio shows, and he had the first Spanish-language wrongful conviction podcast in the country with Univision. Johnny currently serves on the Innocence Project’s Exoneree Advisory Council and is successfully engaging as an entrepreneur.
