Matt Topic founded and leads the Freedom of Information/transparency practice at Loevy & Loevy. Matt and the Loevy Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Team have litigated hundreds of state and federal open records cases, including the case forcing the release of video exposing the murder of Laquan McDonald by Chicago police officer Jason Van Dyke, FBI records that helped exonerate an innocent person, and previously redacted information from the Mueller Report about the decision not to charge Donald Trump Jr. with any crimes. Matt was previously a partner at Kirkland & Ellis and a law clerk to Mag. Judge Morton Denlow in the Northern District of Illinois.
