Emily Maw is currently the Chief of the Civil Rights Division at Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, made up of the Conviction and Sentence Review Unit and the Law Enforcement Accountability Team. Emily previously worked with Innocence Project New Orleans (IPNO) for 16 and a half years, serving as a Staff Attorney for two years then as Director from 2005-2018, and finally as Senior Counsel from 2018-2019. Before joining IPNO, Emily worked on capital cases in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas at the then-Louisiana Crisis Assistance Center and the Texas Defender Service. She has served as a member of the Innocence Network Executive Board and on the boards of the Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Louisiana Justice Coalition and Resurrection After Exoneration, the first exoneree-led, prisoner re-entry program in the country.
