What grief are you bringing today? This question will inspire this interactive, open mic-styled session, welcoming all participants to share how grief looks, feels, and expresses itself in each individual's life. Alive Inside is a program for anyone impacted by the prison system (formerly incarcerated, lawyers, family members, policy makers, and all) to engage in the thought-provoking, perspective-shifting, and deeply creative exploration of grief and loss. This session is modeled after a program that has taken roots originally inside San Quentin in California, Marion Correctional Institution in Ohio, and with the Ohio Innocence Project. Alive Inside uniquely blends music, poetry, and storytelling to accompany session participants throughout a creative conversation on grief, loss, and exploring our shared mortality. This session will be guided by a team informed from years of facilitating spaces for grief and community healing.
