Elizabeth (Liz) Cole is the director of the inaugural Nebraska Innocence Clinic at the University of Nebraska College of Law. Prior to joining the College, Liz was the clinical teaching fellow at the University of Michigan Law School's Michigan Innocence Clinic. She previously worked as a public defender and private defense counsel. Liz is a graduate of Fordham University and Boston College Law School, where she participated in the Defenders Clinic and interned at public defender offices. In 2019, Liz received the Lewis S. Gurwitz Award for the Selfless Commitment to the Defense of Those who Lack the Resources to Defend Themselves.
