Dr. Alondra Nelson is the Harold F. Linder Professor at the Institute for Advanced Study, where she leads the Science, Technology, and Social Values Lab. She has written several books, most recently The Social Life of DNA, which explores the social implications of genetic technologies. She served as deputy assistant to President Biden and acting director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. In 2023, TIME100 named her one of the most influential people in artificial intelligence. A distinguished senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, she has provided guidance to governments, intergovernmental and multinational organizations, and others. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Innocence Project.
