Howard R. Levin, M.D. started his career as an academic cardiologist and researcher and in 2003 co-founded Coridea. His inventions and co-inventions have successfully launched, or patents helped launch, companies including Ardian, Mitraclip, CHF Solutions, Respicardia, Axon and others. He has held a number of positions in these companies including CEO, Chief Scientific Officer and Chief Medical Officer. In January 2021, he became the CEO and CMO of Deerfield Catalyst, an early-stage incubator funded by Deerfield Management.
Dr. Levin received his M.D. from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and his training in cardiology at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He moved from Johns Hopkins to Columbia Presbyterian where he was a Heart Failure/Transplant Cardiologist and Medical Director of the Mechanical Cardiac Support Program. He also has a master’s degree in biomedical engineering. He is an author on over 170 issued U.S. patents and 70 peer-reviewed medical publications.
