Andrew (Andy) Danielsen serves as the Chief Business Development Ocer for Mayo Clinic. In this role, Andy oversees Mayo Clinic’s Department of Business Development – the institution’s front door for partnering with companies, entrepreneurs and investors. Through these partnerships, the Department of Business Development advances Mayo Clinic’s Bold. Forward. strategic plan. The work of Business Development includes technology commercialization, startup formation, strategic collaborations, venture investing and enabling the core strategic priorities of Mayo Clinic.

Andy previously served in multiple roles within Business Development including patenting, technology development and venture investment. Prior to joining Business Development, Andy conducted research at Mayo Clinic where he worked to identify therapeutic targets in breast and ovarian cancer.

Andy serves on several committees throughout Mayo Clinic, including the Medical-Industry Relations Committee, the Research Committee and Secretary of the Business Development Committee of the Mayo Clinic Board of Trustees. He is also a member of multiple executive leadership groups including the Mayo Clinic Administrative Team and the Mayo Clinic Executive Operations Team. Andy serves on multiple investment committees responsible for funding innovative new technologies or startup companies, including the Mayo Clinic Co-Investment Fund, the Strategic Business Development Capital Fund and the Department of Business Development Future Fund. Andy is a member of the Board of Directors for multiple startup companies and for the Southeast Minnesota Regional Food Bank (Channel One).

Andy holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a Master of Science in Molecular Biology from Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
