Samuel J. Asirvatham, M.D., is an electrophysiologist. He is also a Consultant in Cardiac Electrophysiology within the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases in the Department of Internal Medicine and the Division of Pediatric Cardiology in the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Asirvatham is a Professor of Medicine and a Professor of Pediatrics at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. He is faculty of College of Biomedical Engineering and has a Joint Appointment in Clinical Anatomy.
Dr. Asirvatham's current research projects include studying solutions to:
- Developing novel methods for safe and effective ablation.
- Building ground-up innovation solutions for cardiac and noncardiac disorders including diabetes, epilepsy, and hypertension with over 100 issued patents and elected member of the National Academy of Inventors.
- The possible link of stroke events with cardiac device leads.
