This year, employees can choose a challenge: complete a Mayo Clinic Values Crossword Puzzle or Values Word Search before the event. Both activities offer a fun way to test your knowledge and reflect on the values that guide how we work together, care for one another and serve our patients.

Download either the Values Crossword Puzzle or Values Word Search and complete it on your own or with coworkers in the days leading up to the celebration. Once completed, bring your printed puzzle or simply take a photo of it on your phone. Then, stop by the Professionalism and Values tent on September 15 and show your completed activity to receive a special jar of Sister Generose’s famous pickles, recreated in her honor.

A Special Tribute to Sister Generose

For many years, Sister Generose made her famous pickles for the annual Sisters’ Sale, which raised funds to support the Poverello Fund at Mayo Clinic. The fund helps patients in need of financial assistance with hospital charges—a purpose that reflected Sister Generose’s deep commitment to serving others and putting the needs of patients first.

While Sister Generose’s pickles are no longer available today, they are being specially recreated for this year’s All-Staff Appreciation Event in her honor, giving employees an opportunity to experience a small piece of her legacy while learning more about the values she embodied.
