This session will discuss the stereotypes and stigma that people directly impacted by incarceration must overcome, which impacts housing, employment, healthcare, and even personal relationships, not to mention the traumatic experiences that are inflicted on people while incarcerated. We are grateful to have been released from prison; however, we have not made it home yet until we can start the healing process. Participants will discuss the role that advocacy for criminal legal reform, community organizing, and peer support services have to play in the healing journey.
