Moving Case Intake Beyond Excel: Incorporating Data and Analysis into Intake Decisions**
Description

Identifying cases which can be investigated is a time-consuming and difficult process. Innocence organizations spend countless hours reviewing applications, deciding which cases to move forward, and gathering and analyzing materials. Many organizations want to improve their intake system but don't know how. We'll present concrete ways innocence organizations can make their intake and early case selection decisions earlier, and reduce the chance of unconscious bias getting in the way. Topics will include: 1) Screening questionnaires: What information is necessary to make initial in/out decisions; 2) Managing Intake & Screening: Processes and tools to manage the stages of screening; 3) Screening Decisions: What factors matter in decision-making at screening; and 4) Managing Screeners: tips and tools for helping manage and assist volunteers.
