Roberto Almodovar was exonerated in 2017 after 23 years of wrongful imprisonment. Roberto's case was marred by egregious police misconduct, which Roberto soon discovered was a common practice by the detective from his case—after Roberto met several men in prison who were similarly framed. With the help of his aunts and others, Roberto worked to uncover a pattern and practice of misconduct that would eventually lead to dozens more exonerations. Since his release, Roberto has dedicated himself to supporting the wrongfully convicted as they fight their cases and gain their freedom.
