A. Elizabeth “Betsi” Griffith is an Associate Deputy Director in the Policy Office of the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), overseeing the Courts, Communities and Strategic Partnerships team. At BJA, Ms. Griffith oversees projects including community violence initiatives, court-based programs including treatment courts and system integrity, and access to justice projects. She has also served as the Deputy Director of Planning and Operations and as Associate Deputy Director for Justice Systems at BJA. She started her career at the Department of Justice in the National Institute of Justice as the Director of Development. Before that, Ms. Griffith worked for over a decade on criminal justice at the local level, serving as the Director of the Mayor's Office on Criminal Justice for the City of Baltimore. She is a graduate of Washington University Law School in St. Louis.
