Marty Levingston was incarcerated for 15 years, starting in 2009, on a 31 years-to-life sentence for a crime he did not commit. In 2012, he contacted the Ohio Innocence Project. After nine years of investigation—and changes in the system dealing with DNA—attorneys from the Ohio Innocence Project filed a post-conviction motion requesting DNA testing on evidence collected from the crime scene. After the hearing, a motion for a new trial was filed, and the motion was granted. On February 16th, 2023, Marty was released to his family. Since his release, Marty has hit the ground running, marrying his beautiful wife, LaToya Johnson Levingston, and landing a career as a licensed stationary steam engineer.
