Thommy L. Purnell Jr. is the Exoneration Project's Case Manager and a key member of the litigation team. He is the founder and Executive Director of Road 2 Reentry, a 501(c)(3) organization providing reentry support to the freed and exonerated. As an exoneree himself, he is uniquely situated to assist clients in overcoming the many barriers they face when navigating their cases and reentering society. Impassioned by his own fight for freedom and justice, Thommy has worked with Cabrini Green Legal Aid Clinic, First Defense Legal Aid, and Amnesty International. Before joining the Exoneration Project, Thommy spent 10+ years as a paralegal, focused on civil rights litigation. He earned a BA in Paralegal Studies and a minor in psychology from Roosevelt University in 2004.
