Incarceration creates barriers that make the road to reentry more difficult to overcome. For the wrongfully convicted, these challenges may be amplified since they don't typically receive post-incarceration assistance, leaving them with few to no resources from the moment they leave prison. Moreover, innocence organizations often have limited resources to create a pipeline of post-incarceration support for their clients. Where & how can organizations create this pipeline to address clients' reentry needs? What are clients' most pressing needs & how can we work to address them using trauma-informed approaches tailored to their post-incarceration needs? After 10+ years of creating & developing a reentry pipeline within & beyond the Exoneration Project, we share what we've learned so far after creating nonprofit org. Road 2 Reentry & invite discussion from innocence organization leadership & freed & exonerated folks about how we can best meet the needs of our freed & exonerated community.
