Andrea Borchardt is a Senior Forensics Policy Advisor at the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), a component of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs. In the role, she oversees various forensic capacity portfolios, including the Postconviction Testing of DNA Evidence program and the DNA Capacity Enhancement for Backlog Reduction (CEBR) program. She has nearly 15 years’ experience leading teams in both the public and private sector of forensic DNA analysis, where she worked on numerous high-profile DNA cases, including Cold Cases, Missing Persons, Innocence Project cases, Sexual Assault Backlogs, and Property Crime Backlogs. Ms. Borchardt serves on the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC) and was previously an Adjunct Instructor at the Virginia Commonwealth University. She holds a Master of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University.
