This workshop will explore burnout and compassion fatigue in innocence work. Burnout emerges as a response to chronic stressors experienced on the job. Compassion fatigue affects individuals who experience secondary trauma. Burnout and compassion fatigue are occupational hazards in our work and can lead to exhaustion and potential staff turnover. The organizers will use sociometry tools from the field of psychodrama to facilitate group discussion. The exercises will allow individuals to see their own and others' position in respect to particular questions and experiences through physical group interactions. All staff members of Network organizations are welcome and have valuable insights into the challenges staff members face, how to identify burnout and compassion fatigue, strategies to prevent or mitigate burnout and compassion fatigue, and how these issues can be addressed at the organizational level.
