Name
Navigating AI in the Pursuit of Justice: A Collaborative Workshop on When to Use – and Avoid – AI Tools
Description

As the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models (LLMs) continue to grow, so does the challenge of determining when and how to integrate these powerful tools effectively into the innocence movement. In this hands-on workshop, attendees will join AI experts and innocence practitioners to explore the potential – and limits – of AI in legal advocacy, data analysis, case review, and more. Through guided discussions and collaborative exercises, we'll work together to establish practical evaluation criteria, helping participants assess when AI adds value and when traditional approaches are more appropriate. This interactive session will prioritize group input and case-based learning, with real-world examples illustrating both successful applications of AI and cautionary tales. The goal of the workshop is to develop a practical framework for evaluating AI tools and a deeper understanding of how to make technology work for, rather than complicate, their mission of achieving justice.
