Stephanie Kamel is an attorney and director of the Illinois Innocence Project (IIP). She practiced as a civil litigator in the Bay Area and in both civil and criminal appellate work upon moving to Illinois. At IIP, she advocates on behalf of innocent people wrongfully incarcerated in Illinois prisons, educates students through the University of Illinois Springfield undergraduate internship and legal externship programs, and works on legislative reform. Stephanie is also part of the IIP team which educates Illinois police cadets through the statewide mandated Wrongful Conviction Awareness and Avoidance training program.
