Risa Gerson is the chief of the Conviction Integrity Bureau at the Bronx County District Attorney's Office. She started her career as a defense attorney at The Legal Aid Society in New York City, and was a defense post-conviction and appellate attorney for more than 20 years. From 2009-2012, she was the director of the Reinvestigation Project at the Office of the Appellate Defender, a Department of Justice grant-funded wrongful conviction unit at an appellate public defender office in New York City. She received her BA from Barnard College and her JD from Brooklyn Law School.
