Anastasia Heeger is the director of post-conviction litigation at the Innocence Project (IP). From 2021 to 2024, Ana was the chief of the newly established Conviction Review Unit (CRU) at the Westchester County (NY) District Attorney’s Office. During her tenure, the CRU worked with the IP on the exoneration of Leonard Mack, the longest wrongful conviction to be vacated by DNA evidence in U.S. history. From 2007 to 2021, Ana worked at the Office of the Appellate Defender as an attorney and the director of the Reinvestigation Project, an Innocence Network member organization that investigates and litigates claims of innocence and wrongful conviction.
