Jud Lohnes worked for the Colorado State Public Defender for 21 years before joining the Korey Wise Innocence Project (KWIP) in 2022. During two stints with the Public Defender's Appellate Division, he litigated cases in the Colorado Court of Appeals and the Colorado Supreme Court. He spent six years with the Denver Trial Office, where he represented clients charged with felonies. At KWIP, he focuses on cases where expert microscopic hair comparison analysis, a notoriously unreliable discipline of forensic science, may have led to wrongful convictions. He is a graduate of the University of Colorado School of Law and Colorado College.
