Name
Homophobia and Wrongful Convictions
Description
There is much discussion about the role race plays a part in wrongful conviction. It is known that marginalized groups are more at risk for violence and punishment because of racism, classism, anti-immigrant bias, etc. This fact begs the question: what other marginalized identities are affected by implicit bias or overt discrimination and bigotry? This panel discussion will explore how homophobia/transphobia and racism have impacted four exonerated panelists, both in their wrongful convictions and in their life experiences.
